“Today we commemorate the 37th anniversary of the arrival of the #VietnamWar Unknown Soldier candidate aboard USS Brewton (DE-1086) from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, at the former Naval Air Station Alameda. The Vietnam Unknown Soldier selected would ultimately be interred at @Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., on May 28, 1984. This year marks the centennial of the first Unknown Soldier, and will be commemorated Nov. 9, 2021, in Washington, D.C.  @Naval History & Heritage Command #tomboftheunknownsoldier”

  1. It is with a heavy heart that I read this note about the Unknown Soldier from Vietnam! It could have been me. It could have been a number of service men. I am happy to celebrate this remembrance! GOD bless our military. God bless the USA.

  2. I have photos of bombing squadron six, 1942, USS Enterprise. My father was a commander. HR Moorhead. Van Buren was well known for his bombing bravery.
