“Today we commemorate the 37th anniversary of the arrival of the #VietnamWar Unknown Soldier candidate aboard USS Brewton (DE-1086) from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, at the former Naval Air Station Alameda. The Vietnam Unknown Soldier selected would ultimately be interred at @Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., on May 28, 1984. This year marks the centennial of the first Unknown Soldier, and will be commemorated Nov. 9, 2021, in Washington, D.C.  @Naval History & Heritage Command #tomboftheunknownsoldier”

Based on current guidance available today, the Museum was able to open on 10 October, Saturday.  We will open again Saturday the 17th of October and continue to evaluate before opening on both days of the weekend! Today turned out great, thank you for all the visitors today and see you again soon!  

The attendance will be limited to 25% of capacity, for which we will maintain strict controls to ensure we are successful in sharing the Alameda Naval Air Museum experience with you.
