April 1, 1942 sixteen bombers, their five-man crews and Army maintenance personnel, were loaded onto the USS Hornet at Naval Air Station Alameda under the leadership of Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle.

off for the mission to Tokyo. Provided that location still exists and

Doolittle and the Raiders took off from Pier 2, which is still in use and visible from our museum. Perhaps the Wasp used same pier? Pier 3 has the USS Hornet (CV-12) museum. Google Earth can show you how they look today.
