Alvin Choy Lum Resident of Fremont Alvin Choy Lum’s (75) courageous battle with lung cancer has ended. He went to peaceful rest at 1045AM on May 28 with beloved family and friends at his bedside. He was born on October 1, 1933 near Canton, China.
Educated as an architect from Tulane University, he spent a majority of his established career at Montgomery Wards in Oakland, CA. He retired from the Naval Repair Facility in Alameda, CA in 1998. In 2003, Alvin and wife Sula retired to Chandler, AZ to be near their son Anthony. During his retirement, he and Sula enjoyed traveling, embarking on many cruises and trips to China.
He is survived by Sula, son Anthony, daughter-in-law Sonya, granddaughter Kenna, brothers Howard and Calvin, sisters Yuk-Moi Owyang and Yee-Lam Yim and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation at 130PM followed by Memorial Service at 230PM on Saturday, June 6 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
