Born in Fresno to the late Kojiro and Sao Tochiura, Dorothy passed away peacefully in Alameda. Wife of the late Sam Narahara for 62 years, she raised four children: Joan Narahara, Edwin (May) Narahara, Carol (Gordon) Kono and Kenneth (Chikako) Narahara. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Sheryl N. (Jay) Hathaway, Craig and Neal Narahara, Kirk (Erin), Randall (Julie) and Lance Kono, and Margrethe and Kristopher Narahara. She was also a proud great grandmother of five, sister of Howard Tochiura, and was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Nakajima.

During World War II, Dorothy and her family were interned at Topaz, Utah. She worked for 30 years at the Alameda Naval Air Station and retired as a budget analyst. She was active in numerous community organizations, including the Buddhist Women”s Association at the Buddhist Temple of Alameda, J-Sei, the Alameda Japanese American Citizens League, Extending Connections Seniors Program, and was a member of the National Active Retired Federal Employees.
