Robert “Bob” Gulden passed away on Christmas Day 2011
Bob had many positions during his years at the base; machinist, machinist foreman, equipment specialist in Production Engineering (machine tools), and general foreman of the Machine Shop (93000 Div.) when he retired. After retirement Bob went to work for the Viereck Company, a machine tool sales company that sold machine tools to the Government.
Bob became a mentor to me when I went to the Production Engineering Department. Since I was put in the position that he held as buyer of machine tools, I frequently had to go and pick his brain on the complicated process of ordering the best machines for the base and how to wade through the stacks of government paperwork.
Bob was not only a good person to work with/for, he was also just a very good mild mannered person.
