On the night of March 18, 1959, Lt. Varner died as a result of an aircraft accident at Alameda Naval Air Station, California. Behind him remains a history of a man, devoted to his country, his family, and friends.
To my dad, I know from the stories that I have heard what a wonderful person and kind man that you were. I have your pictures and look at them every day. I think often how different my mom, brothers and my life would be if you were here today. You would be proud of your children and the paths we have taken. Although I haven’t met you here in this life I look forward to seeing you in the next. With all my love. Your daughter Stephanie
